The Servitisation Energy Transition (SET) Alliance, an initiative led by BASE, introduced the Efficiency-as-a-Service (EaaS) Innovation Showcase Award to recognise groundbreaking ‘as-a-service’ projects that drive energy efficiency, decarbonisation, and social impact. After reviewing global submissions, three winners were selected for their innovative and scalable solutions:

  • Zuwa Energy (Malawi): Deployed solar microgrids to power rural health centers, eliminating fuel costs, cutting 500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, and improving healthcare delivery.
  • Oorja Development Solutions (India): Installed 100 solar-powered irrigation systems, reducing farmers’ diesel reliance by 96% and benefiting over 33,000 people.
  • Kaer (Singapore): Implemented Cooling-as-a-Service (CaaS) at Changi Airport, reducing energy use by 54% in cargo facilities and cutting 650 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

Aiming to inspire further use of servitisation models to accelerate cleaner energy systems adoption, the SET Alliance will publish detailed case studies on the winning projects. Additional projects focusing on district heating in Belgium, industrial cooling in South Africa, and cold chain solutions in Nigeria, will be highlighted. The initiative underscores the growing role of EaaS in accelerating the clean energy transition worldwide.
