BASE has carried various capacity buildings programmes for key stakeholders on how to unlock finance in sustainable energy and climate change solutions.
Some of the most prominent ones are the followings:
- 2019. Solar Capacity Building for Financial Institutions (Mexico): The objective of the project was to support Local Financial Institutions (LFI) in Mexico to finance and scale up financing for solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. BASE developed a one-day capacity building training, provided technical assistance for up to 5 commercial banks and created a report on the lessons learned from the fact-finding mission and key recommendation to the Mexican LFI sector.
- 2010 – 2014. Bank Officer Training (Latin America): Develop and implement an online capacity building programme that targets bankers in Latin America. The aim is to engage and train them on how to finance energy efficiency. First Training course in 2010. In 2011 were delivered two training courses, in 2012 one, and it will be delivered one training programme in the first half of 2014. The programme has trained more than 100 bankers, and professionals, and it is designed to be self-sustained.
- 2010. Renewable energy insurance training kit (Global): Online training programme for insurance industry on risk management, underwriting guidelines, policy and case studies
- 2010. Bank Officer Training (Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia): Capacity building programme on how to finance sustainable energy in emerging markets and engage local banks.
- 2008. EMPRESS – Energy Management And Performance-Related Energy Saving Scheme (Czech Republic and Slovakia): The project aimed to raise awareness and engage private investors/enterprises in investing in energy efficiency. Part of the project included the implementation of an incentive scheme (paying energy audits), and aimed to promote a proven industrial energy management tool, Monitoring and Targeting, or M&T.
- 2005 – 2007. BASE Investment Forum (Switzerland, France, India, Brazil, China, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America): Source, evaluate investment opportunities in RE, and support projects to pitch in front of potential investors
- 2001 – 2006. Regioner (Germany, Switzerland, France): Forum, workshops and capacity building in sustainable energy for the Oberrhein region.
