First CaaS matchmaking will be in Cape Town

Back
The BASE team is going to Cape Town in South Africa for the first-ever CaaS matchmaking event 9 March 2020.

CaaS is an initiative lead by BASE along with the Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program (K-CEP) that overcomes key market and financial barriers to increase and accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient cooling technologies and the use of climate-friendly refrigerants gases.

CaaS is a pay-per-service model for clean cooling systems, which eliminates upfront investment in clean cooling technology for customers who simply pay for the amount of air conditioning they use instead of buying and maintaining the whole equipment, strengthening incentives for efficient consumption. The technology provider remains the owner of the cooling system, maintains it, and covers all operational costs including electricity, which incentivises to install and maintain the most efficient equipment. CaaS also encourages manufacturers of cooling technology to design for reuse rather than obsolescence, thus supporting the circular economy.

Within our efforts to mainstream the model around the world, we will be hosting two free round table sessions to help Southern African providers, end users and funders of HVAC&R technology learn more about the Cooling as a Service model and how to implement it in their business streams.

  • 15:00 – 16:30 – This first session will focus on how CaaS works. A panel of experts will discuss opportunities and challenges related to the implementation of the model, followed by a session of Q&A.
  • 16:30 – 17:00 – Networking Break.
  • 17:00 – 18:30 – After the break, participants will dive into the aspects of the model that are most relevant to their respective businesses. Roundtables & other dynamic formats will enable participants to engage actively and exchange with each other.

Join us in our mission to deliver clean and efficient cooling to the world! For more information on the CaaS matchmaking, you can download the flyer of the event, and if you would like to participate, register for free here.
